Zevia and Diabetes
As a mom I know it’s important to fuel my children’s bodies with foods/beverages that are healthy for them. Two out of my three children have type 1 diabetes. After the diagnosis, a nutritionist was reviewing menu items for our kids and artificial sweeteners were mentioned. Not once was I comfortable offering this to the kids on a consistent basis. Before diabetes artificial sweeteners weren’t recommended but now they were…I don’t think so.
While shopping at our local health food store a new soda caught my eye. So far I was only able to use Stevia to sweeten items, but hadn’t found a Stevia sweetened product until Zevia caught my eye. As I scanned the ingredients, my excitement peaked as I read Sweetened with Stevia. Right in the middle of the store I started jumping up and down and let out a huge “Yeah” as if I was a cheerleader cheering for a winning touchdown.
As the staff checked on me I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. I began explaining my story and no one could appreciate it as much as me. We stock each flavor the local stores carry. During sick days it’s awesome to give the kids a Ginger Ale to sip on and without giving them an insulin bolus for the carbohydrates, as it doesn’t seem to affect their blood sugar.
Thank you Zevia for your great product. Our whole family enjoys your all natural soda.
