For years, Derek Newman had been trying to get his wife, Jessica, to quit her chronic diet soda habit. As Derek and Jessica expanded their family, they also expanded their healthy habits. Every year they added new races and runs, marathons and triathlons to their agendas. Jessica had fueled her marathons with a steady flow of diet cola and energy bars. Derek was worried about Jessica's consumption of harmful artificial sweeteners, and knew there had to be a better way.
Derek's good friend, Seattle entrepreneur Ian Eisenberg, never thought he would be in the beverage business. But, he too drank several cans of artificially sweetened diet soda each day. After Derek and Jessica suggested the three of them design an all natural alternative with no calories and no artificial ingredients, Ian realized they had an opportunity to bring a healthy thirst quencher to diet soda fanatics everywhere.
The three of them put their taste buds together and searched the world for the right ingredients to make their naturally sweetened, carbonated product come to life. They discovered Stevia, an herb from the rainforest, many times sweeter than sugar, with no calories or harmful qualities.
