Clearly Different: Zevia Now non-GMO + Clear!

We’ve got a HUGE announcement!  Actually, you should probably sit down, it’s a double whammy.

By the end of June, all Zevia products produced will be Non-GMO Project Verified and color-free, including caramel color.

As our CEO Paddy Spence says, “We all love the bubbles, flavors, sweetness and enjoyment that soda offers, but many of us just aren’t comfortable with the ingredients in conventional sodas.  That’s why we created Zevia, and why we were the first brand to offer zero calorie sodas without artificial sweeteners.  Now, we are raising the bar and charting a bold new direction for the soda category.  We believe that Non-GMO Project Verified sodas without color are the future and we are excited that Zevia continues to lead the way.”

Why are we making this change, and converting our entire product line to Non-GMO Project Verified and clear?  Because you asked us to.

We stand behind the ingredients we choose, and we also stand by our commitment to continuous improvement.  Our passion to keep evolving stems from our love of delicious soda, tasty food and of course, the extended Zevia family.  With 36 kids among our 25 team members, we are focused on continuing to identify smarter ingredients, not just for ourselves but for the next generation.

What does this mean?  Your Zevia Cola’s, Ginger Root Beer, Ginger Ale, Dr. Zevia and Cream Soda flavors are going clear!  Just like our fruit flavors currently are, our entire line of soda will be clear in color.  It wasn’t easy.  We worked hard, we stayed late and we taste tested again and again until we got it right, because your voice matters.

Some said it couldn’t be done, but you know we like to push the envelope.  These little rebels will start rolling onto shelves late June.  You’ll know by the band around the top of the can that proclaims “No Caramel Color” and the Non-GMO Project Verified logo on all of our new cans!

Oh sorry, were we shouting?  You betcha!   We are going to shout it from the rooftops because, friends, this is what you call a game changer!  And we have you to thank for helping us push the boundaries a little further.

It may take time for these new cans to pop up at some retailers but our Non-GMO, clear sodas will be showing this summer who’s boss!!

Thank you for making Zevia even more healthy. I love Zevia and I enjoyed the clear cola even more. Zevia is the only soda that I have drank since I discovered it over a year or two ago. Thanks for giving us a healthy option.

I love Zevia and the color is immaterial as long as it continues to taste great. Also, would love to one day taste a Zevia from a 2 liter bottle or a glass bottle. In Greenville, SC I can not find a Zevia in a glass bottle. Oh that dreams would come true.

I love the Zevia Sodas … I wish that they were sold in Johnstown, PA. Question: if the sodas are naturally sweetened, why are they still referred to as “Diet” … ?

    Reply

    • August 12, 2015 @ 4:50 pm Zevia

Great question! We don’t refer to them as diet although they’re likely called that elsewhere because they are zero calories 🙂 For retailers, check out our store locator here: http://www.zevia.com/get-zevia Cheers!

Thanks for listening and all the hard work to make all Zevia sodas clear and non-GMO. I haven’t been purchasing Zevia due to the coloring and the lack of non-GMO status but that will change. You have won me back as a loyal customer along with my 5 grandsons! Again thanks for listening and acting. I am looking forward to trying clear Zevia.

We had had your fruit flavored soda knowing it contained no colors and since this product was new to us I assumed all your sodas were of the same high quality! Thank you for going NON GMO and Color Free! Our family is on a very restricted diet and it will be nice to add a little treat into our lives.

I may drink a soda! This is a fantastic idea, I used to love the flavors you offer! 5 years ago I had ovarian cancer and chose to remove the large tumor but opt out of chemo. I found the best nutritional supplements and got healthier so soda and sugar were definitely out. I just recently started learning about gmo’s and factory farming…seems there’s not a whole lot left. I will really enjoy giving these a try!

Rarely do I leave a comment on a site.
First let me say, thank you.
As a 40 something diet cola-holic, finding zevia was a dream come true.
As my diet evolved it was important to start to look at all my food choices.
As I went caffeine free, it was important to find a cola that was caffeine free and no artificial sweetener.
My only regret was that Zevia wasn’t clear.
I still drink my mountain of water each day, but Zevia is a treat and it’s a darn good one.
    Looking forward to clear sailing!

I have not had access to Zevia’s & drank a diet coke recently. It made me sick, stomach cramps & extreme thirst. The only problem with Zevia’s is, they are hard to find. Only Krogers sell them in my hometown & they run out regularly. Hoping more people switch to this smarter drink. I am spreading the word. Again, thanks.

Today we found our two favorites, cola and root beer, at whole foods and were floored when we saw the new labeling. We both agree this new clear treat even tastes better! We live in a time that so many dangers lurk in our food, water and beverages. I am thankful knowing that this is one less drink I/we have to be cautious about. I thought “Cool!” but then didn’t give it a second thought. It was only after drinking Cola, Cherry Cola and Root Beer for a few weeks that I noticed it was clear! It is too strong a taste to “get used” to. I tried with a whole case as I did with the orange. As a consumer I buy cases and cases of Zevia a year. This might force me off the brand.

Same here… the Caffeine Free Cola also tastes different, with a very funky aftertaste. I may stop ordering it (I get it by the case). Dr. Zevia is closer to what it was. I’m not sure why coloring made such a taste difference.

Yayyy! I already sent Zevia a message on facebook, about how excited I was!
I had no idea, until yesterday I went to stalk up on my Zevia Cola at my local Whole Foods & I saw the “Now Clear/NON GMO Verified. It was such a pleasant surprise. I loved Zevia before for being a game-changer with no artificial sweetners. But now, it’s a million times better!!!! Thank you thank you thank you! Stuff like this really matters!!! I’ve been asking for sodas to take out caramel color for ages now! We have been finally heard! A business that listens to the concerns of customers, is a business to support! ZEVIA, you guys have my full support & business forever!

Before I even noticed the band on the can, I immediately noticed a taste in the ginger rootbeer, but it was a big improvement! I loved the soda before, but it tastes so much smoother now, with a lot less acidity and more prominent ginger sweetness. Considering that this soda has kept me away from coke, mountain dew, and other carbonated drinks that I used to love but cut out because of how unhealthy they are, I am super pleased. While I can not give Zevia all the credit, it has been a huge help in improving my lifestyle to a healthier one without completely removing things I enjoy from it!

I have been drinking your soda for a few years now. I will have to say that I do not like the taste of the new clear cola. There is a metallic flavor in the “middle” of the taste.

I have been drinking the Zevia cola for a few years and just loved it…

I just got back from the beach and our picnic….We decided to bring our favorite Zevia drinks. Mine was the cola, my husband’s was the root beer. Well I was a little reluctant to try the new “clear” non GMO cola but thought it should be the same…or at least close. I loved the idea of a healthier version of the cola but when I tasted it I thought, “Oh my gosh, this tastes like cleaning fluids taste. Very, very weird taste…so sad…end of Zevia for me! Hope you go back to the regular some day…I’ll be watching for it:(

I am so sad that my cola has gone. As a diabetic who reacts badly to aspartame, my options are limited. I ordered a case of the cola as usual but this clear version came. I tried it and now feel sick. It tastes like Sprite, which I hate. Wish I could send this expensive stuff back because I am not going to be able to drink it.

Thank you so much! I was about to stop drinking some of your flavors for this exact reason when I went to the store today and saw they’d gone clear. I haven’t tasted them yet, but I’m very excited to give the clear versions a try. They don’t have the Dr. Zevia clear version on the shelf at my grocery store yet so I’m very happy to see that it’s coming. Thank you again for making this change. I love when companies listen to their customers about what they want.

Great question, Michael! The cans have a colored ban around the top that says “Non-GMO” so you’re sure to see it! Thanks for your support!

Dear Zevia, I’m cheering for ya! Thank you for giving us a healthier alternative. I’ve been buying your sodas for years (as soon as I discovered them) My favorite and only flavor I like though is Cream Soda. Could you work to improve the flavors on the rest of your sodas please? They need a stronger flavoring. My adult son drinks all your other flavors though and I am so glad he has grown up to be health conscious. Keep working on mastering that recipe~ I do tell my friends about your products.

Whenever I go to a restaurant or fast food place there is never a healthy drink alternative (besides water and ice tea which I’d rather not have to pay for or drink when out) I do not drink diet sodas because of the artificial sweeteners. It would be so great if Zevia sodas could get into these places so people like me could have a option I’d choose. Are there any plans for going into these places? This trend needs to catch on!

I quit drinking Diet Pepsi/Coke over 10 years ago as it was causing weight gain and some side effects from the artificial sweeteners. Once I heard about Zevia as a no-calorie soda made with Stevia, it was a dream come true! My favorites are Ginger Root Beer and Cola. Imagine my surprise this past Fall to see new cans with NON-GMO and no caramel in both my favorite sodas!! I was ecstatic! As I tried both these new improved sodas without the caramel coloring, it actually tastes so much better! Thank you so much for this major improvement and for an excellent product. I’m hooked for life!!

I drink nothing but Zevia now – Order it by the case from Amazon. Just discovered recently after trying to find clear Kool Aid packets to mix with my Stevia but this is much better. Would like to see a BPA free can next.
