You might have noticed that Zevia includes “natural flavors” in our ingredients. All of our flavors are natural and plant-based. For proprietary reasons, we don't list all the delicious natural oils, plant extracts, and essences we put in our beverages. As one might say, this constitutes our "family recipe."

But if there is a particular ingredient you are trying to avoid, please contact us with your concern and we will answer any questions you may have. We respect food allergies and sensitivities.

How do I read the expiration date on a can of Zevia?

While Zevia beverages do not have a true "expiration date," they taste optimal when consumed within 1 year of their production date.

In the code, the first letter represents the month of canning or bottling. A is January, B is February, C is March, and so on. (We skip the letter “I” because it looks like a 1 or L.) The next number is a two-digit number, such as “16” or “17”, which indicates the year: 2016, 2017, etc. The next two numbers are the day of the month. The next letter or two, maybe an ""N"" or an ""A"" is top secret. Kidding! Well, actually, it is kind of a secret code that helps us know exactly where each can was filled. The last set of numbers indicates the time of day.
